Of course a great deal of the root cause of leather deterioration is due to this most natural of finishes not being conditioned over time. A simple wipe over with a very mild soapy solution each time the car is cleaned puts back some of the moisture that the leather loses in use and  a well applied application of a good proprietary leather conditioning cream every 3 - 6 months can considerably lessen the fading and drying out effect that sunlight and regular use often imposes
